Our Story

We believe in creating positive and nurturing relationships based on Christian principles which is at the heart of our philosophy. We believe God has intricately made us all, and the bible says in Psalms chapter 139 v 13- 14 that ‘you created me in my mother’s womb, and I praise you because I am remarkably and wonderfully made’. This means no matter who we are or where we come from, we should be grateful that God chose to give us the gift of life. We welcome children from all religions, ethnicities and backgrounds, recognising each child’s learning journey is individual and unique.

At Carmena Nursery we believe that every child deserves the best possible start to their education. Every child should have a safe, secure and happy environment in which they will feel confident and ready to learn. Children should be supported by experienced staff, which are all committed to providing quality nursery education and support. Children’s experiences and achievements should be supported and praised. Good communication between the nursery and parents or carers is highly important. Every child should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

Our Christian Values

Although the ethos of the Nursery is Christianity, we welcome children and parents/carers of all denominations. Every child is recognised and treated as an individual within a framework of the highest ethical standards and equal opportunities.

We work closely with parents / carers to provide a level of care that meets the high standards you’d expect for your child. It is during their wonderful and critical pre-school years that the entire foundation of life is laid and shaped significantly for your child. These years are often referred to as
the building block period, which are even more vital than any other period in their lives including their college years. Step by step, brick by brick, the qualities we call values are simple Biblical principles, expressed as character builders.
As previously stated, Carmena’s culture recognizes the importance of Biblical
principles which are fundamental to the values of the Nursery.

Welcome to Carmena Christian Day Nursery. As professionals, parents and carers we all want the best for children in our care. We are a family established Christian day nursery that has been operating for over 35 years and we are committed to providing outstanding childcare five days a week, 51 weeks a year for 0-5 year olds between 8am-6pm.

The Government has announced they are helping parents with childcare so they can return to work more easily via a range of new measures.

Increasing childcare support:

This will be rolled out in stages:

From April 2024, all working parents of 2-year-olds can access 15 hours per week
From September 2024, all working parents of children aged 9 months up to 3 years old can access 15 hours per week 2.
From September 2025 all working parents of children aged 9 months up to 3 years old can access 30 hours funded childcare per week
